Fire up the grill, mow the back yard, put out some decorations, and throw that apron on. (Bonus points if it says “Kiss the Cook”). It’s time for a BBQ! & by that, I mean a bbq themed baby shower complete with decorations and backyard vibes.

(Can you tell the puns are my favorite part of this job?)

Whether you’re serving hot dogs or burgers & beer, this post has you covered. After you are finished reading you’ll be able to host the perfect baby BBQ themed baby shower – no venue rental required. Let’s dive in!

Before the party starts: The Invitation

You may think your event starts when your guests start to trickle in on the day of. Rather, your baby shower *really* begins when you send out the invitations.

Invitations are a very important detail of the event. They organize the information, set a tone, and give some guidelines for your guests.

There are tons of unspoken subtleties that guide your guests on various topics in the invitation when it comes to the big day, such as: what they should wear, if the event is formal or laid back, what gifts are acceptable and which are not, and so much more.

Choose an invitation to match your theme and one that effectively communicates these messages to your guests. Don’t leave them guessing!

I created this BBQ themed baby shower invitation with the laid back mom to be in mind. If you still want a theme that’s very trendy and cute, but also wouldn’t mind wearing jeans to your baby shower – this invitation set is perfect for you!

The Decorations

Once you’ve set the tone with adorable invitations, it’s time to set the tone the day of your event equally with some *cayute* party decorations!

These barbecue themed baby shower decorations are all you need to set the perfect tone for your baby shower.

Investing in party decorations gives your guests a more enjoyable time at your party. It also makes the mother to be and her family feel really special, which is the whole point, right!?

I designed these decorations with the same fonts, colors, and graphics as the invitations. Am I the only one around here who’s kinda crazy about everything matching?

The greatest part is: these decorations come in a kit. Complete with everything you’ll need to throw the cutest backyard bbq baby shower of all time! All your items in one place!

Wondering what’s included in the kit? –

Half Kit: Main BBQ Banner, Secondary BBQ Pictures Banner, 10 Paper Straws, 10 Cupcake Toppers, One Bag of Confetti

Full Kit: Everything in the Half Kit *plus* one red and white checkered tablecloth, 24 red snack plates, 25 11″ balloons (a mixture of red, white, black, and yellow).

The Activities

Okay, is it just because I live in the midwest that I think this is a no-brainer? For a backyard BBQ themed baby shower the only option is a cornhole tournament! There’s nothing better than grilling, beer, and cornhole, okay?

Organize a small round-robin tournament and take signups when people walk in the door. Pair each person with a partner randomly – this encourages mixing of different families and friend groups. Then assign teams to rounds. Oh, and make sure the prize for the winning team is epic!

If you want a more traditional game take a look at this article I wrote that explains how to choose different party games for your shower. There *is* a right and wrong way to choose games for your shower.

Easy: hot dog, burger, or brat bar!

I’ve done a hot dog bar before at a party and it was a hit. All you have to do is cook a bunch of hotdogs, buy a bunch of buns, and set out all the condiments you can imagine would be fun to try on a hot dog. Maybe even get a few fun ones like barbeque sauce or special mustard.

You can easily adapt that to burgers or brats as well!

Wanna go a different way with dinner or lunch? You could still incorporate a bar for dessert. I’m thinking maybe a s’mores bar with various toppings once the sun starts to set. You don’t even have to have a campfire – just use the grill if you have to!

Now that you have the great ideas, invitations, and decorations for what will soon be the cutest bbq themed baby shower of all time – you’re set friend!
